Gouves, north coast of Crete
On the map
Gouves sits on the north coast, between Heraklion and Hersonissos. The beach is a few minutes on foot and the national road is right behind us, so the rest of the island opens up without a transfer.
The island from here
Between the mountains and the Cretan Sea, minutes from the beach and half an hour from the airport. Far enough from Hersonissos to sleep, close enough to walk back from dinner.
Getting here
From Heraklion airport
Twelve kilometres, about twenty minutes on the coast road. Our own taxi can collect you at any hour, or your hire car is waiting at the hotel.
From the port
Eighteen kilometres from the ferry terminal in Heraklion. Same road, about twenty-five minutes.
By car
Leave the national road at the Gouves exit and follow the signs to the beach. Free parking on site.
By bus
The KTEL coast line stops in Gouves and runs to Heraklion and Hersonissos through the day. The stop is a short walk from us.
