Knossos and the museum
The Minoan palace is half an hour inland. Go early, while the stone is still cool and before the coaches arrive, then finish the morning at the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion.

Analipsi sits in the middle of Crete's north coast, so most of the island is only a day away. A palace, a gorge, a mountain village, a boat on open water. Tell us what you're in the mood for and we'll book the tour, the boat trip or the car. The rest of the day is yours.

Beaches, near and far
Analipsi Beach is two hundred metres from the gate, close enough to walk down with a towel and nothing else. For the water on the postcards, Vai, Matala or Elafonissi, give yourselves the whole day. They're long drives, so we'll pack you breakfast for the road.

A slow day at NOMAD
Not every day needs a plan. Stay by the pool, walk down to Analipsi Beach, order something cold, and let the afternoon turn slowly into sunset and dinner by the sea at Achinos. Sometimes the best way to experience Crete is to stay where you are.

Boat trips and a day at sea
Boats leave from Hersonissos harbour and the others along this coast. Small groups, stops to swim, lunch on board, and salt drying on your skin on the way back. We'll help you pick the trip that suits the weather that day.

The Lasithi plateau, villages and raki
Drive an hour up to the Lasithi plateau and the air changes, and so does the food. Village tavernas, mountain cheese, and raki made in the yard out the back.

Cretan wine and olive oil tasting
Follow the vineyards south of Heraklion and the olive groves towards the Messara. Taste Cretan wine and olive oil where they're made, meet the people behind them, and take a little of the island home with you.

Walking the gorges of Crete
Samaria is the famous one, and it takes a long day. Within an hour of here there are shorter gorges, quiet ones, where you'll have the path almost to yourselves.
